Our strong local economy has delivered unprecedented jobs growth and a significant rise in living standards.
We’ve built the $1.7 billion Hunter Expressway, we’ve just delivered $10 million to further progress the Muswellbrook by-pass, a study is underway to investigate the viability of a Singleton by-pass, and tonight we’ve delivered $45 million to resolve Scone’s level rail crossing problem.
It is not acceptable in the 21st century, to have a dangerous and traffic-halting level rail crossing on one of our main roads through one of our major towns.
None of these projects are the responsibility of the Federal Government alone, the NSW Government is jointly responsible and we will expect them to make a contribution.
There is debate about the best solution for Scone’s problem. I will work with the local community to ensure that the $45 million we have allocated tonight is spent in the most efficient and effective manner.
