A WEEK HAS PASSED BUT STILL NO HANSARDGATE LETTER

One week has passed since the Office of the Information Commissioner ruled that a key “Hansardgate” letter be released.

For more than a year the Turnbull Government has done everything in its power to prevent the release of a letter between sacked Agriculture Department Secretary Dr Paul Grimes and the Minister for Agriculture Barnaby Joyce.

The letter relates to significant changes made to Minister Joyce’s Hansard which he told the Parliament he had no knowledge of.  The Minister later blamed his staff.

Hansardgate cost a senior and highly respected public servant his job and taxpayers $700, 000.

The Government’s refusal to release Dr Grimes letter leaves the community with only one option:  to assume the Government has something to hide.
