ABBOTT’S BROKEN PROMISE HITS RURAL & REGIONAL AUSTRALIA THE HARDEST

Tony Abbott’s fuel tax rise takes effect today and rural and regional motorists will be hit the hardest.

Tony Abbott said on the eve of the last election he would not increase taxes. His broken promise on fuel tax means that from today those living in rural and regional Australia will pay the most for his dishonesty.

Fuel prices are already higher for us in the bush, and this unfair tax hike will only increase the gap between the city and the bush.

The Abbott Government has deserted rural and regional communities.

While the average Australian could pay an extra $135 for petrol every year the cost will be even greater for those living in the bush.

Despite Joe Hockey’s commitment to his party room and Senator Ian Macdonald in June to model the impact of his unfair petrol price hike on rural and regional Australia, we still don’t know the real cost.

Labor will continue to stick up for Australians in the bush who need it most and will fight this sneaky price hike by a dishonest Abbott Government.
