ANOTHER WEEK PASSES AND BACKPACKERS TAX STILL HURTING

Three weeks after the self-imposed 6 April review deadline, the Abbott/Turnbull Government Backpackers Tax  remains in place.

Today the Victorian Farmers Federation said; “Some producers are starting to panic because they don’t know if they should plant for their usual crop…it’s all very uncertain and the Government needs to resolve the issue. If the government is serious about connecting with – and growing – our industries, we will see the backpacker tax addressed in next week’s budget.”

Two weeks ago Senator Ruston stated  that “the review would be submitted to Cabinet shortly and people should expect an announcement in the next few weeks”.

With just four days until the Budget the tourism and agricultural sectors have been given no hope change will be made but rumours are circulating that there will be no Government back-down

The chaos and dysfunctionality of the Turnbull Government sadly will have long term negative consequences for our tourism and agricultural sectors.
