This week Barnaby Joyce provided his latest excuse for the delay in the White Paper’s delivery. He now says the hold-up is the Government’s tight Budget situation.
“Because of the financial condition of the Nation, it is a tougher game.”

If the White Paper is prescriptive about spending measures it will judged to be no more than an election promises document. The White Paper should set the strategic direction, choices and spending decisions should follow.
Sadly, no one should be surprised by another excuse but industry, stakeholders and our farmers certainly shouldn’t trust what Barnaby Joyce says about the delay as all we see are excuses after excuses.
It is time for Barnaby to honestly say when the White Paper will be delivered once and for all.
