The optics of Barnaby dancing on a pub bar while admitting he has not yet picked up the phone to deal with the growing dairy crisis will leave dairy farmers more than disappointed.
Nearly three weeks after the dairy crisis was first brought to our attention by Murray Goulburn’s unprecedented retrospective down-grade in farm gate prices, Barnaby Joyce told Channel Nine’s Today Show this morning he would pick up the phone "tomorrow".
His comments come on the same day new documents show Murray Goulburn has thrown dairy farmers under a bus.
Dairy farmers in Victoria and beyond will be rightly angered by the Agriculture Minister’s blatant admission that their current situation is not on the top of his agenda.
This admission clearly shows how out of touch Barnaby Joyce is with those he claims to represent. The same farmers I have already met with, but Joyce is yet to visit.
Barnaby Joyce is very quick to try to claim credit when commodity prices rise but his silence is deafening when bad news hits.
