Federal Member for Hunter, Joel Fitzgibbon, today visited Branxton Playgroup to see first-hand the positive impact the playgroup movement is having for local families.
With more than 200,000 families participating in over 8,000 weekly playgroups across 80% of Australia, playgroups are one of the largest volunteer movements in Australia.
Community playgroups play a vital role in our local communities and provide huge benefits to the children and their parents/carers.
Playgroups encourage stronger parenting skills, provide support networks for families, encourage volunteerism and build stronger communities.
That’s why playgroups are so valuable. They are a great opportunity for kids to learn through play and develop social, cognitive and physical skills.
I am a strong supporter of the playgroup movement and I remain committed to ensuring our children get the best possible start in life so they can grow up to be happy, healthy adults.
