The Turnbull Government has again demonstrated their contempt for regional Australia, as they continue to ignore calls to fix their flawed child care changes in Parliament.
Malcolm Turnbull’s child care changes will scrap the Budget Base Funded program and force mobile child care services operating in regional Australia into a ‘mainstream’ funding model.
The truth is this will render most providers unviable and force them to close. The Government was warned about this months ago:
“The funding reform proposal will no doubt ensure the closure of up to 90 per cent of the current BBF mobile children’s services across rural and remote communities in Australia.”

“This Government knows full well that their child care changes will leave one in three children worse off,” Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education and Development Kate Ellis said.
“They have repeatedly refused to listen to concerns from Labor, sector experts and families.”
“Families in regional Australia deserve better than this Government’s neglect,” Shadow Minister for Rural and Regional Australia Joel Fitzgibbon said.
“Accessing affordable and high quality early education shouldn’t depend on your postcode.”
