GOVERNMENT’S SENATE STUNT FAILS

The Government’s attempt to make Barnaby Joyce’s Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) pork barrel debacle about regional jobs failed in the Senate today.

Sponsored by National Party and LNP Senators, the defeated motion attempted to suggest the APVMA relocation is about regional jobs and of course, it is not. It’s about Barnaby Joyce’s job.

The Senate’s Finance and Public Administration Committee will examine the APVMA relocation. Farm groups and other key stakeholders are lining up to offer their submissions to warn of the adverse impact the move will have on the agriculture sector, and human and animal health.

The Government’s own cost benefit analysis demonstrated the folly of the APVMA relocation.

I have no doubt the Senate Committee will come to the same conclusion.
