JOYCE MUST RELEASE COSTING ON RELOCATING FEDERAL AGENCY TO HIS ELECTORATE

With the Parliament returning next week, I call on Minister Joyce to release theĀ cost benefit analysis on the relocation of the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) to his own electorate.

Minister Joyce was forced to undertake a cost benefit analysis but, under pressure during the election campaign, he decided to announce the relocation before the cost benefit analysis was complete or made public.

Last Friday I wrote to the Minister asking him to provide me with a copy of the completed report, but I am yet to hear back from the Minister or his office.

The National Farmers' Federation, CropLife and Animal Medicines Australia have all voiced their concerns and have urged the Minister to rethink his reckless plan and to consider the impact the disruption it will have on the agriculture sector.

If the Minister has nothing to hide about the negative impact of the relocation, then he should release the report today. If he does not, we must conclude that the report is damning and the relocation should be abandoned.
