As another smoke and mirrors exercise, Barnaby Joyce "officially opened" an "interim" Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) office in Armidale today.
How ironic, Barnaby Joyce has moved the few APVMA administration staff in Armidale out of McDonald’s and into shared digs with Centrelink which has space because it's been laying off staff ever since the Coalition was elected.
Apparently Barnaby Joyce held an official opening event at the "interim" office. It's not clear whether he cut a ribbon but we are reliably told those gathered enjoyed pulled pork barrel burgers.
Meanwhile back in Canberra, the APVMA's regulatory scientists and lawyers continue to jump ship, leaving farmers and others who depend on the work of the Authority scratching their heads.
