The Australian National Audit Office has criticised the manner in which funding was allocated under the Abbott Governments Safer Streets program.
The Report found a whopping 88 per cent of the Safer Streets funds were awarded to Coalition held seats, and only 12 per cent of Labor seats. Further, it identified flaws in the selection process.
This is where Maitland's CCTV funding ended up, in marginal Coalition electorates.
The Safer Streets program would have more aptly been named “Unsafe Seats".
