FITZGIBBON OPENS REFURBISHED SCIENCE CENTRE AT CESSNOCK HIGH SCHOOL
Monday, 12 December 2011
Federal Member for Hunter, Joel Fitzgibbon, today officially opened the refurbished science centre at Cessnock High School built as part of the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER).
Cessnock High School received $1,295,820 under the National School Pride (NSP) program and Science and Language Centres for 21st Century Secondary Schools (SLC) element of the BER.
The BER is a key element of the Australian Government’s $42 billion Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan to support jobs, stimulate local economies and invest in important infrastructure for the long term.
Mr Fitzgibbon congratulated Cessnock High School on their new facilities and spoke of the benefit to both the school and local community.
“This is an historic investment in the modernisation of our schools and we will continue to see the benefits of this program for many years to come.”
Mr Fitzgibbon said the Government’s investment had resulted in libraries, science labs, classrooms and multipurpose halls being built across the country.
Further information about this project and all schools funded under the BER is available at www.buildingtheeducationrevolution.gov.au or at: www.economicstimulusplan.gov.au.
