Media Release - Thanking Our Outstanding Volunteers - Thursday, 26 September 2019

Federal Member for Hunter Joel Fitzgibbon has thanked 33 volunteers for their outstanding and selfless contribution to the community, at a special event hosted in Cessnock on Tuesday.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, Mr Fitzgibbon invited the Hunter community to nominate volunteers who deserved to be acknowledged for their dedication and commitment to their community.

The Hunter Volunteer Awards was attended by more than 140 people at the Performing Arts Centre, including Deputy Mayor of Cessnock, Melanie Dagg, and Deputy Mayor of Singleton, Tony Jarrett.

“The Hunter electorate is without doubt a better place because of the contributions made by our Volunteer Award recipients,” Federal Member Joel Fitzgibbon said.

“This was an opportunity for the community to say thank you and acknowledge the generous contribution volunteers make across all sectors of our society.

“The significant turnout to the Hunter Volunteer Awards Presentation illustrates just how much our community appreciates the hard work and tireless efforts our volunteers make.

“I would also like to thank those who took the time to submit their nominations to ensure the recognition of our local volunteers.”
