New Coalition Agreement must be made public

The new Prime Minister Scott Morrison must commit to making public any new Coalition Agreement with the National Party.

His Government is still fighting my FOI applications for the last two Agreements in the Courts.

His Government has so far wasted over $80,000 of taxpayers’ money to keep them a secret.

Yet, Governments around the world recently making coalition agreements to form government have made the documents public including the Governments of New Zealand, UK and Germany.

The National Party is again talking up its demands for the new Coalition Agreement. They always say the agreements are important when they are first signed but then claim them to be “administrative only” when asked to make them public.

Nothing is more fundamental to our democracy than a deal a major party does with a minor party to form government.

The Australian people have a right to know what deals have been done.
