My Parliamentary Inquiry into our flying fox challenges further progressed last week when the House of Representatives Committee on the Environment and Energy formally called for submissions.
I've written to our local councils asking them to consider making a contribution.
I'd also like local residents to do the same. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy or technical, just provide a few sentences about how the local bat colonies have affected you. It's important that Members of the Committee hear from real people experiencing real problems.
You can email your submission directly to the Committee at aph.gov.au/flyingfoxes by COB Friday, November 18.
The Committee will focus on the impacts on local communities and the State and Federal laws which make the issue so challenging. Let's hope we can find some solutions which both help communities but respect the role the bats play in our ecology.
