PM snubs Hunter farmers

The Hunter region was ignored in Malcolm Turnbull’s Budget and now he is snubbing the region’s farmers.

Whether you are a dairy farmer in Gloucester, growing vegetables near Maitland or producing beef in the Upper Hunter, the drought is biting hard. Yet the Hunter was been left off his drought tour this week.

After five years of inaction on drought policy, Malcolm Turnbull is obviously looking for a photo opportunity but what farmers need is sound policy responses.

Hunter farmers coming to the end of their entitlement for a Farm Household Allowance are rightly asking what’s next for them.

The Prime Minister should visit the Hunter and share his thoughts with them.
