SUPPORT FOR LOCAL VETERAN COMMUNITY

Two local ex-service organisations will receive funding under the Federal Government’s Veteran and Community Grants program.

The Maitland RSL Sub-branch will receive $6,574 to upgrade their photocopier equipment and the National Service & Combined Forces Association of Australia Incorporated (Maitland Branch) will receive $3,476 to help purchase computer equipment and a digital camera.

The Veteran & Community Grants provide an important source of funding for projects that support a healthy and quality lifestyle for members of the veteran community, young and old.

Veteran & Community Grants are available to ex-service and community organisations, veteran representative groups and private organisations that contribute to the health and welfare of the veteran community.

“Australia’s veteran community deserves to have the best support services available and I congratulate both of these organisations for their initiative,” Mr Fitzgibbon said.

“As we move closer to the Centenary of Anzac, more and more community groups and organisations will be thinking about how our community can commemorate this important period of national commemoration”.

“The Hunter electorate has $125,000 available to assist with local commemorations for the Centenary of Anzac. For further information visit http://www.anzaccentenary.gov.au/
