TUCKERS LANE OVERPASS AT GRETA OPEN TO TRAFFIC

Traffic has now been moved onto the Tuckers Lane overpass at Greta as part of work on the Hunter Expressway project.

Federal Member for Hunter, Joel Fitzgibbon, said this was another major milestone for the western section of the project.

“The traffic switch will ensure motorists can continue to use Tuckers Lane while work on the Hunter Expressway continues. “The Tuckers Lane overbridge is one of the biggest single span bridges on the western section of the Hunter Expressway with a span of around 38 metres.

“The Federal Labor Government is providing $1.5 billion to the $1.7 billion Hunter Expressway, as part of our record $11.6 billion investment in Nation Building projects in New South Wales,” said Mr Fitzgibbon. NSW Minister for the Hunter, Michael Gallacher, said that four interchanges at Kurri Kurri, Loxford, Allandale and Branxton were being built in the western section of the Hunter Expressway.

“Work involves bridge crossings on McLeod Road at Loxford, Old Maitland Road at Sawyers Gully and Camp Road at Greta.

“We are making progress on the 22 bridges and more than 90 per cent of earthwork is now complete in the western section of the Hunter Expressway,” said Mr Gallacher.

Abigroup started work on the project in April 2011 and is on schedule to open the Hunter Expressway late 2013, weather permitting.
