To recognise the valuable contribution and immense value of our volunteers, I'm hosting a Volunteers Awards event on Tuesday June 6 following on from National Volunteers Week, which is an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nations volunteers.
Nominations are now officially open and I'm calling community members to put forward individuals they believe deserve recognition for their contribution as a volunteer.
This years theme - Give a little. Change a lot - represents the millions of volunteers who make a profound impact in their communities and on society, through giving a little time.
In the Hunter electorate we are fortunate to have thousands of individuals who selflessly contribute their time and effort to our community as volunteers.
I am proud to host a volunteers event in June to acknowledge the many outstanding volunteers who are determined to give back and who make the Hunter a more vibrant, supportive and special place to live.
Nominating someone is a simple process and only takes a few minutes, but it is an important way of saying thank you and paying tribute to the time and effort they give to others. Nominees must reside within the Federal electorate of Hunter.
If you know someone special who has contributed to our community as a volunteer, please nominate them for a Hunter Volunteer Award before COB Monday, 21 May 2018.
Award recipients will be invited to attend the Hunter Volunteer Awards event on Tuesday June 5.
