It seems farm families will have at least seven more restless sleeps before they learn whether they can rely on the Abbott Government for drought relief assistance.
Reports that Prime Minister Tony Abbott didnt place drought assistance on Cabinets agenda yesterday indicates deep divisions in the Coalition ranks despite the Oppositions offer of bi-partisan support.
The economic dries in the Cabinet continue to fear a hand-up for drought stricken farmers will leave the Government looking inconsistent in the wake of the decisions not to intervene in the auto and fruit manufacturing sectors.
This is a problem of the Government's own making and farm families should not become the victims of internal Coalition squabbling.
Farmers need support and they need it now every day Tony Abbott delays this assistance is another day these farmers suffer.
