Treasurer Joe Hockey must make the retention of the Scone abattoir a condition of any approval of the JBS take-over of Primo.
Producers in NSW are justifiably concerned that the closure of Scone would have an anti-competitive effect and adversely impact on their profitability.
I share their concerns and we also need a guarantee that the Scone abattoir will continue as a critical part of the local economy.
