I understand Senator Matt Canavan has cancelled a visit to the Upper Hunter tomorrow.
The Prime Minister and Josh Frydenberg have both declined my many invitations to visit Liddell power station to better understand its operations and to meet with our power station workers.
I was pleased when I learned they would at least send a backbencher in what I hoped was an effort to better understand our challenges and opportunities.
But alas, it seems it isn't to be.
Strangely, the word "Liddell" has not left the lips of either the Prime Minister or his Energy Minister since Wednesday last week.
They are big mouths in Canberra but won't front up to their responsibilities to the Hunter region.
They are all politics and no care. The Prime Minister regularly cruises past the Liddell and Bayswater power stations en route to his sprawling cattle property. I’ve no doubt the workers would be pleased to have him call in.
I will visit Liddell to speak with management and workers today.
