Hogan must back his dairy farmers

Member for Page Kevin Hogan must stand up to Prime Minister Scott Morrison and back struggling local dairy farmers said Shadow Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and Shadow Minister for Rural and Regional Australia Joel Fitzgibbon and Federal Labor Candidate for Page, Patrick Deegan.

Hogan sits on the cross bench in Canberra but votes with Scott Morrison on every occasion, including the recent vote on Labor’s proposed Minimum Farm Gate Milk Price proposal.

“Labor’s Minimum Farm Gate Milk Price will protect farmers from the power of the supermarkets and the processors. It would ensure farmers are paid a fair price for their milk,” Joel Fitzgibbon said.

“It’s time for Kevin Hogan to show some courage and back local dairy farmers by embracing Labor’s plan,” Patrick Deegan said.

“I’ve had a number of meetings with local dairy farmers and it’s clear they are struggling and business as usual is not an option. I’m pleased to have Shadow Agriculture Minister Joel Fitzgibbon in Page tomorrow to speak to our dairy farmers about Labor’s plan to assist them.”
