JOYCE’S SILENCE ON REASSURING GROWERS IS DEAFENING

Barnaby Joyce’s failure to reassure grain growers that their research contributions are being used for their intended purposes will be disappointing for levy payers.

The Minister should be fully aware that under the Primary Industries Research and Development Act, the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) does not have the authority to expend funds on advertising.

I again call on the Barnaby to explain how revelations that the GDRC is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on an Alan Jones roadshow, marketing, and conference sponsorship does not constitute marketing.

I again call on the Minister to guarantee growers that it is not his intention to participate in scheduled events as a form of free self-promotion.
