LABOR SUPPORTS TASMANIAN FARMERS CALL FOR RETURN OF STOLEN MONEY

Labor supports the Tasmanian Farmers & Graziers Association’s call for the return of $30 million that Barnaby Joyce stole from Tasmania’s share of the former Labor Government’s farm finance concessional loans scheme.

Soon after the election, Barnaby Joyce decided to both raid the fund and re-distribute money away from Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania to New South Wales and Queensland.

Barnaby Joyce suggested Tasmanian farmers don’t need the money but in a letter to MPs and Senators, Tasmanian Farmers & Graziers CEO Jan Davis has revealed the fund is oversubscribed in Tasmania.

Tasmanian famers are right to be angry about their treatment by the Abbott Government in their hour of need.  The Agriculture Minister should apologise and return the money.
